Voice Choir with Christine Roberts at Powys Castle
Newtown
Male Voice Choir was recently invited to perform a selection of songs
at Powys
Castle to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War 2.
This choir was conducted by Christine Roberts who was accompanied by
Gill Owen on the piano. The choir performed several pieces from their
ever increasing reportoire.
They where joined at this event by Newtown Silver Band, Soloist Cathy
Beech, a ‘Lone Piper’ all hosted by Alan Crowe (Ala Cra).

The choir
recently had a very busy on Saturday 5th September when they not only
performed at a wedding at 1pm but that evening at 7.30pm they where
also invited to perform at a concert.
The wedding in question was at the Leominster Priory Church, a fabulous
venue and the choir wish the Bride and Groom every best wishes for the
future. In the evening, the choir performed at Little Hereford to a
packed out community hall. The choir throughout the day was conducted
by Gill Owen with Sarah Astley Davies accompanying her on the piano.

The
annual Newtown Male Voice Choir Celebrity Concert takes place at the
Baptist Church (opposite St David’s Church) at 7.30pm on Sunday, 17th
May.
“Not only will they be performing several songs from their
highly respected repertoire, they will also be joined on stage by other
local artists to make it a highly entertaining evening for music lovers
of all ages,” said a choir spokesman.
Artists include local
soprano Gemma King and the award winning New Dynamic Choir, Newtown.
The whole event will be compered by Sue Blower from Montgomery.
