Musical Director – Sarah Astley-Davies

Born and brought up in Newtown, Sarah started playing the piano at a young age and also plays the clarinet and saxophone. Educated at Ysgol Uwchradd Caereinion, she went on to study Music and Welsh at Cardiff University, where she studied clarinet with Martin Ronchetti. Following her degree, she went on to study for a Masters degree in Welsh Ethnological Studies. She now works for Powys County Council.
Sarah became the choir’s Assistant Accompanist in May 2014, taking over as Accompanist in September 2017 and as Musical Director in March 2018. As well as her involvement with the choir, she has been involved with Newtown Musical Theatre Company since 2006, initially as Rehearsal Accompanist but more recently as Musical Director for a number of shows, including Oliver! (2009), The Wizard of Oz (2011), Annie (2013), A Christmas Carol (2014), White Christmas (2016), Sister Act (2017) and most recently Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (2018). She is also a member of local choir New Dynamic.
Accompanist – John ‘Bassoon’ Evans

John is originally from West Wales and is music graduate from Manchester University. Now retired, John wa a peroatectic woodwind tutor in Powys and Camarthenshire. He has vast experience of accompany many male voice choirs all over the country but has been Newtown Male Voice Choir’s accompanist for the last 3 years.
